Travel

About Delft

Delft is relatively small city (around 100k inhabitants) in the Western part of the Netherlands, located in between Rotterdam and the Hague. Delft can be easily accessed by plane (Schiphol International Airport near Amsterdam can be reached easily by train) and, in general, good railway connections. E.g. Eurostar, Thalys and ICE trains typically stop in Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Utrecht, each of which has good connections to Delft. We encourage participants to travel by train if possible.

To Delft

Delft is easily accessible by car and public transport. It is a compact city and all the main locations inside its historic centre are well within walking distance from the TU Delft campus.

Amsterdam Schiphol – Delft

From Schiphol International Airport, Delft is easy to reach via public transport or by special taxi, the so-called SchipholTravelTaxi. There are nine trains per hour that make the 45 minutes journey between the airport and Delft. For more information, please visit www.ns.nl.

Rotterdam The Hague Airport - Delft

Rotterdam The Hague airport offers fast and convenient services to many European destinations. It is the area’s regional airport at just 15 minutes by taxi from Delft. By public transportation, the connection lasts about 40 minutes. For more information, please visit www.rotterdamthehagueairport.nl.

Eindhoven Airport - Delft

Eindhoven airport is only at 130 km from Delft. It is easy to travel from Eindhoven Airport to Eindhoven train station by bus and then to Delft by train. For more information, please visit https://www.eindhovenairport.nl.

By road

Delft is connected to an excellent network of Dutch and European motorways, such as the A12, linking the region with Germany and the A16, which connects it to Belgium.

Public transport

Delft is centrally located within the European railway network, with high speed train connections to Brussels, Paris or London. There are many local transport facilities to move delegates during a conference, such as tram, bus, taxi and water taxi. Plan your trip with 9292, the user-friendly APP that brings information from all public transport companies together.

To TU Delft campus

The TU Campus is easily accessible by car via the A13, but parking spaces are limited and there is paid parking for visitors. Please visit the TU Delft website for more information on parking on campus. We encourage you to visit the campus by public transportation. Plan your trip with 9292, the user-friendly APP that brings information from all public transport companies together.

You can also do as the Dutch and travel to campus by bike. Almost all the hotels in Delft offer rental bikes for their guests, based upon availability.

2025 NATO Summit 24 and 25 June

The 2025 NATO Summit will be held on 24 and 25 June in The Hague. It requires many security measures, which will affect road traffic, public transport and air travel.

Roads and motorways

Anyone travelling by car between Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam from Sunday 22 June to Thursday 26 June should expect severe disruptions. The temporary and partial closures of roads, motorways (including slip roads), flyovers and tunnels on the A4, A5, A44 and N44 are likely to cause a lot of slow-downs. The same applies to regional and local roads in and around The Hague, Wassenaar, Katwijk, Noordwijk, Haarlemmermeer, Leiden and Rotterdam.

Public transport

During the summit trains will follow their normal schedules, but may be more crowded than usual.
